Iran has declined the United States' offer of President Barack Obama meeting his counterpart Hassan Rouhani at the United Nations, calling the whole process 'too complicated'.
Obama and Rouhani will not meet at the UN on Tuseday, as speculated earlier, Politico reports.
The White House had offered to have a meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, but Iranian officials ultimately declined, the report added.
A senior administration official said the relationship of Iran with the U.S. was quite different compared to other Western nations.
Obama said if the issue of Iran's nuclear program can be resolved, it can serve as a major step towards a different relationship based on mutual interests and mutual respect.
