Hollywood actress Charlize Theron recently opened up about prevailing gender inequality issues, impacting Hollywood.

The 41-year-old Oscar-winning actress sat down with 'Vanity Fair Italy' for their November 2016 issue in which she pointed out the "real problem" saying, "Hollywood's gender problem is nothing compared to the society's problem," reports E! Online.

"The time has come for women to realize that the way we look outside is not the most important thing and it's not true we are worth less when we age," she said.

The 'Mad Max: Fury Road' star also dismissed fellow female stars who claim that ageism is alive and well in the entertainment industry.

"I don't agree with that and I'm not happy to hear people talking like that about Hollywood," Theron continued, "Now that I'm 41, I work much more than 20 years ago, and I enjoy it even more. And all the women I know say the same thing, so it's time to stop this cliche."

Hoping to turn the focus towards promoting a message of body positivity, the A-lister embraces ageing because it is an inevitable "part of our life."

"How could I be afraid of something so natural?... now I'm much wiser than 20 years ago. A wrinkle is nothing compared to that" she expressed.
