The newly-elected Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Jagmohan Dalmiya, on Monday said that his win is a victory for cleansing the game of cricket.
"It is a victory for cleansing of cricket," Dalmiya told mediapersons when asked if the victory was his or of the faction he supported.
Jagmohan Dalmiya was formally elected as the BCCI president during the board's Annual General Meeting held in Chennai earlier in the day.
Dalmiya has replaced N. Srinivasan, after the Supreme Court barred the latter from standing as a candidate for the top job following its probe into a betting and fixing scandal surrounding the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Anirudh Choudhary has been elected as treasurer of the body while Anurag Thakur and Amitabh Chaudhary have been elected as BCCI secretary and joint secretary respectively.
