Ivan Lendl insists Murray's Wimbledon win was born out of last year's defeat

New Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray's coach Ivan Lendl has said that he thought the Scot's victory at this year's Wimbledon was born out of last year's defeat, adding that the final in 2012 had been a great experience.

According to the Mirror, Murray drew strength from adversity and returned to Wimbledon as a better player after receiving words of encouragement from his coach, only to become the Champion.

Lendl added that if Murray had not played last year's final, he would not be that well prepared and any time one plays a Major final, it is the greatest experience.

The coach had told the Brit after his Wimbledon final defeat to Federer that he should be proud of his performance under the greatest pressure of his life, the report said.

Murray had lost his first three Grand Slam finals without winning a set and took confidence from the backing of the 53-year-old, who had been in this situation before, the report added.
