Jay-Z has won a copyright infringement case for his 1999 hit single 'Big Pimpin', which was accused of using Egyptian composer, Baligh Hamdi's 1957track 'Khosara Khosara's Arabic melodies.

The US district judge Christina Snyder dismissed the lawsuit against the 45-year-old American rapper and his producer Timbaland before it went to a jury at a federal court in Los Angeles on Wednesday, ruling that the heir of an Egyptian composer lacked the right to pursue a copyright infringement claim, the Guardian reported.

Osama Fahmy, nephew of Hamdi, filed the lawsuit against the singer claiming that the singer and his producer didn't have the late Egyptian composer's permission to sample the song's flute notes.

Also, Fahmy lacked standing to pursue his claim, so, it will not be necessary to submit to the jury whether 'Big Pimpin' infringed 'Khosara Khosara'.
