Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has been shifted from the intensive critical care unit (ICCU) to the general ward of the Apollo Hospital in Chennai, and her AIADMK party on Sunday asserted that she would be returning to her Poes Garden residence soon.
Speaking to ANI here, AIADMK spokesperson C R Saraswathi said that the party is ecstatic and described it as their 'Diwali' gift.
"Yesterday evening, honourable chief minister has been shifted from ICU to the normal ward. There are no words to express our happiness. All our prayers have been answered. Very soon she will be home," she said.
This is the first time that that Jayalalaithaa has been moved out of the ICU since she was admitted to the hospital on September 22 with complaints of fever and dehydration.
On November 13, the chief minister said she had taken 'rebirth' and is waiting to resume her duties.
According to reports, the normal ward will have all requisite medical facilities for Jayalalithaa.
