Janata Dal (United) leader K C Tyagi on Wednesday said Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu should explain the reason behind the rising number of train accidents in the nation.
"The Railway Minister had promised during the Rail Budget that rail safety will be his priority. More than a dozen rail accidents have taken place. Now, Railways Minister must clarify the reason behind rising number of rail accidents," Tyagi told ANI.
At least 27 people, including 11 women, 11 men and five children, have died after the two passenger trains derailed within minutes of each other while crossing flooded tracks in Madhya Pradesh late last night.
Several NDRF teams have been rushed to the site of the derailment to carry out relief and rescue operations.
