England football team goalkeeper Joe Hart has signed a new contract with Manchester City that would keep extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2019.

Hart, who joined City from Shrewsbury in 2006, said that he is really happy, adding that he has been at City a long time now and he wants to keep that going. He claimed that the club's doing amazing things at the moment, adding that they have created history and they want to keep doing that.

The England international has won two Premier League titles and two domestic cups during eight years with the club, the BBC reported.

City's 2012 title win ended a 44-year wait since their last league crown in 1968, while they also won the FA Cup in 2011 and League Cup in 2014.

Hart said that it was never a doubt for him, adding that it was always whether the club wanted him. He admitted that he loves the club.

The new contract underlines Hart's status as City's preferred goalkeeper, despite the arrival of Willy Caballero from Malaga in the summer.

Hart's place had been temporarily under threat from the Argentine at the start of the season, but he returned in top form to feature in all but four games this term, the report added.
