Rajasthan High Court judge Justice Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaveri was appointed as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court on Saturday.
Justice Jhaveri will succeed Justice Vineet Saran, who has been elevated as a Supreme Court Judge, as per an official notice.
Earlier, Justice Jhaveri was appointed as a judge in the Gujarat High Court in March 2004, a year after which his position as a permanent judge was confirmed. In 2016, he was transferred to the Rajasthan High Court.
Apart from Justice Saran, the Ministry of Law and Justice also confirmed the elevation of Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court, Justice Kuttiyil Mathew Joseph, as a Supreme Court judge.
In addition, the Supreme Court got its eighth woman judge, with the appointment of Madras High Court Chief Justice, Indira Banerjee.
