Even as parents' continued to protest over the rape of a six-year-old girl in Bangalore, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday controversially distanced himself from the event when he asked the media if it is the only news they had that they could report on.

"Is this the only news you are having?" said Sidaramaih when asked to comment on the sexual assault case.

He also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of the politicizing the issue.

"Whatever action is required we will take that. Wherever we can invoke the gunda act we will do that," added the Karnataka CM.

Earlier today, the BJP staged a protest in Bangalore against the recent rape of a six-year-old girl inside her school premises.

Former Karnatka Chief Minister B.S Yeddyurappa, BJP leader Prahlad Joshi and other party leaders too joined the protest.

On July 2, two gym instructors had allegedly raped the minor girl inside the premises of Bangalore's Vibgyor School when she had gone to the washroom out of which the skating instructor has been arrested.

After the incident came to light, angry parents vandalized the school premises demanding an explanation. They alleged that the school management was not addressing the issue with utmost urgency.

Residents of Bangalore have taken to streets to protest against the incident and a massive crowd gathered outside the police station demanding justice for the girl on Saturday.
