Off-spinner Tharindu Kaushal claimed his first five-wicket haul as Sri Lanka bundled out a lackluster Pakistan batting line-up for 138 on the opening day of the second Test on Thursday.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan were dealt with an early blow when opener Ahmed Shehzad was dismissed for one off seamer Dhammika Prasad's delivery.
Although Mohammad Hafeez (42) and Azhar Ali (26) tried to help their side recover from a shaky start, the Sri Lankan bowlers efficiently utilized helpful pitch conditions to expose their opponents' batting frailties.
While Prasad claimed three wickets, Kaushal scalped five to bowl out the visitors in 42.5 overs by tea.
Chasing a paltry 138, Sri Lanka were 70-1 at stumps with Kumar Sangakkara (18) and Kaushal Silva (21) on the crease and are poised for a big first innings lead.
Opener Dimuth Karunaratne made 28 before he was caught behind by Sarfraz Ahmed off Junaid Khan's bowling.
Sri Lanka seek to level the series after losing the first Test at Galle by 10 wickets.
