Keira Knightley will play the role of a singer, songwriter Gretta in John Carney's 'Begin Again' alongside Mark Ruffalo and Adam Levine.

According to the Daily Express, the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star took singing lessons and sang lots of scales to figure out her range and to strengthen her voice as she was making her debut as a singer in the movie.

The 29-year-old English actress added that she would have been thrilled if Adele or Shirley Bassey had sung the songs for her.
