Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday submitted his response to the notice by the Election Commission on a complaint by the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit over power discoms, saying the charges against him were 'malafide and motivated'.

Denying all charges, Kejriwal wrote that the complaint was a counter blast by the complainant and/or his Party to distract the people by diverting attention.

"I deny the allegations of the Complainant in toto. The information disseminated during the press conference was based on cogent and reliable material available in public domain and ground perception among the local public at large," he wrote.

The Election Commission of India had issued a notice against Kejriwal after Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay filed a complaint against him for making "false, baseless and unverified allegations against him".

Earlier on Thursday, Kejriwal had said that the party would be presenting evidence to prove its allegations against Upadhyay.

The Delhi BJP chief, however, had threatened to sue Kejriwal over power discom allegations.

Kejriwal has alleged that Upadhyay's companies had supplied electric meters to Anil Ambani-group controlled power utility BSES and that the party was soft on discoms indulging in corruption.
