New Zealand Test wicketkeeper-batsman BJ Watling remained confident about the use of the pink ball after undergoing first night training session in Hamilton.

Australia will host New Zealand for the three-match trans-Tasman Test series late next month, with the last game to be played under lights for the first time in game's history in Adelaide.

Putting aside initial apprehensions that the pink ball wouldn't be seen from the boundary, Watling said that the ball was very bright, adding that he felt it pretty similar to what a white ball does in a black sky, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The 30-year-old admitted that it would take time to get accustomed to the new fluorescent ball and catching it from the black sky and also trying to get used to seeing it from a white sightscreen.

However, Watling also said that he was unsure about the impact that the different temperature in Adelaide would have it on the pink ball.
