Thousands of people across Kolkata on Monday participated in a candlelight vigil held to express solidarity with the 72-year-old nun, who was gangraped at a convent school in West Bengal's Nadia district.
Those present also offered prayers to show their support for the victim, while some carried placards with messages demanding justice.
Archbishop of Kolkata, Thomas D'Souza, who was part of the march, expressed his disappointment with the ongoing investigation and urged the government to provide security to nuns.
"We are not happy for the simple reason that 48 hours have passed and there have been no arrests. Why is the process so slow? These culprits should be brought to book. That is my appeal, and also to provide security to sisters and the people around there," he said.
On Saturday, around a dozen suspected dacoits entered the Convent of Jesus and Mary and gangraped the 72-year-old.
Eight people have been detained in connection with the case after police officials released CCTV footage of the perpetrators.
