Expressing his views on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) imbroglio, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said that lack of political experience should not stop the party from keeping the promises it made to the people of Delhi.

"Did not expect this kind of politics, wherein politicians start taping conversations between each other. Lack of political experience should not stop them from keeping the promises made to the people of Delhi," said Jaitley.

"People voted for this government with high hopes, this opportunity should not be wasted due to lack of political experience," he added.

Jaitley's reaction comes as a meeting of the AAP's national council is presently underway to decide on founder members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan.

The AAP's national council is expected to vote on a proposal to remove the dissident leaders from the party.

Earlier on Friday, Bhushan and Yadav had hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of stifling internal democracy and adopting unfair means to capture power.

They alleged that any issue raised by them was being projected as questioning Kejriwal's leadership and attempts to remove him from the post of AAP's national convener.

The tussle got murkier later in the day after a secretly-taped phone conversation was leaked in which the AAP chief is heard abusing Bhushan and Yadav and threatening to exit the party with 67 Delhi MLAs.
