Lady Gaga's relationship with her longtime music manager Troy Carter came to an end because she refused to put more poppy "radio-friendly" songs to "ARTPOP", it has been revealed.
A source told the New York Post that the 'Born This Way' hit maker and Carter hit an impasse after she and her record label, Interscope, disagreed over the musical direction of the latest album.
The insider asserted that label executives believed that the 27-year-old singer did not have any "hits" on the album and asked Carter to get through to Gaga, but she refused to "adulterate her art".
However, Interscope's rep asserted that the story is untrue and ridiculous, adding that Gaga has creative control, and they are thrilled with her album.
Earlier it was believed that the duo had parted ways over certain "creative differences".
40-year-old Carter has been Lady Gaga's manager since 2007 and helped launch her pop career.
