Congress leader Pramod Tiwari on Friday said that the release of 26/11 mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi is the biggest failure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government.

"This is the biggest failure of this government's foreign policy. The government should stand for India. This is the biggest terrorist who took away around 500 Indians in Mumbai," said Tiwari.

"It was clear that Lakhvi was the mastermind and India gave all the evidence to Pakistan and yet, he was released from Pakistan Jail. This is the biggest failure of India. The Modi-Government just makes false promises and hope," he added.

Meanwhile, security expert Raj Kadyan said that if Pakistan is serious about terrorism, they should not have released Lakhvi.

"Pakistan is encouraging terrorism by doing such things. People like Lakhvi had always been a favourite of Pakistan. If Pakistan is serious about terrorism, they shouldn't have released Lakhvi. It is not Pakistan Prime Minister is Nawaz Sharif but actually the army of Pakistan which is controlling the nation," said Kadyan.

"Lakhvi's release is a matter of concern for India and also for other nations who are against terrorism. Pakistan help people like Lakhvi and in return, they help them in election," he added.

On Thursday, the Lahore High Court struck down the detention order of Lakhvi and ordered his release.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Lakhvi challenging his fourth one-month detention ordered by the Okara DCO on March 14

The court ordered his release based on the lack of reliability of the sensitive information provided and also directed the accused to pay 20 lakh rupees in surety bonds to Adiala jail.

Lakhvi is among seven people charged with planning and carrying out the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
