A recent "Windows 9" leak has reportedly revealed the company's plans to bring back the popular Start menu in its next major release.

A two-minute video shows how the menu will work in Windows 9 and is very similar to what Microsoft demonstrated earlier this year by mixing traditional apps with modern apps into the familiar Start menu, reported the Verge.

The account options have been placed at the top of the Start menu for now and the restart and shutdown options can be accessed by a visible button alongside the account section.

The new Start menu has a list of traditional apps in the familiar left pane and looks like a smaller version of the Windows 7 Start menu.

The report added that the video shows only a very early look of the next version of Windows and the user interface is bound to change significantly by the time it is released next year.
