Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday appealed to the people of Maharashtra to make sure the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieves majority in the assembly elections to be held after three days.
"I urge you to let BJP serve this state with majority this time. And I promise you that whatever steps the Maharashtra Government will take to alleviate the problems of the state and to change the lives of farmers, will be fully supported by the Centre," said Prime Minister Modi while addressing a rally in Pandharpur.
With just one more day left for campaigning before the state goes to polls, the Prime Minister also stated that this year marks the end of Congress and its allies.
Taking on the opposition parties, Prime Minister Modi said, "NCP is naturally corrupt. Since the time the party was born nothing has changed. Farmers commit suicide but that does not affect the Congress-NCP leaders. They don't feel sad."
In keeping with his recently launched cleanliness mission, Prime Minister Modi also reminded the crowd to take back their plastic bags, bottles and other belongings when they leave the venue.
"This is the land of saints, we cannot litter here. This is our Mother India, we cannot make it dirty," he said.
