UK-based economist Lord Meghnad Desai will soon receive the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Vishwa Pratibha Award for his contribution to society as a Gujarati.
The Ahmedabad-based Vishwa Gujarati Samaj will confer the award on Desai, reports said.
Reports quoted the President of Vishwa Gujarati Samaj, Krishnakant Vakharia, as saying that Lord Meghnad Desai, 74, has as a Gujarati, played a key role in framing UK's economic policy and authored several books.
Vakharia also informed that late Gujarati writer Dhirubhai Thaker has been selected for Kanjibhai Desai Gujarat Pratibha Award posthumously for creating the 'Gujarti Vishwakosh' encyclopedia in Gujarati.
Thaker was given a Padma Bhushan a year ago for his contribution in the field of education and literature.
