Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the passing away of eminent journalist BG Verghese, adding that with his demise, India has lost an 'accomplished writer'.
The Prime Minister took to twitter to express his grief.
"In Shri BG Verghese, we lost an accomplished writer and an insightful thinker. May his soul rest in peace," he wrote.
Verghese, the Ramon Magsaysay award winner, passed away in Guragon on Tuesday. He was 87 years old.
Vice President M. Hamid Ansari also expressed his sorrow at the passing away of the veteran journalist.
In his condolence message, the Vice President stated that Verghese had written on diverse issues, ranging from civil liberties and human rights, with a focus on non-traditional security issues.
