MakeMyTrip, one of India's leading travel booking sites has reportedly acquired an Amsterdam-based hotel booking portal 'EasyToBook' for a whopping 5 million dollars.
The travel booking site hopes to multiply its revenue earned through online hotel bookings while targeting inbound customers traveling to Asia.
MakeMyTrip founder Deep Kalra said that with the ETB acquisition, the travel company is aiming at expanding its presence beyond South East Asia, adding that the website has been open to inorganic growth and acqua-hiring and was on a hunt for opportunities in 'supplier disintermediation, Tech Crunch reported.
MakeMyTrip is among the early online businesses in India and like other online booking portals, is now faced with challenges in growing the base of people who actually transact online.
