Plans to expand Manchester City's Etihad stadium have been reportedly approved by the councilors.

The Premier League club is increasing the capacity of its stadium from 48,000 to about 62,000 by adding a third tier to the North and South stands.

According to the BBC, the tiers would include about 6,250 seats, and a further 2,000 pitch-side seats would be added.

The expansion would make Etihad Stadium the second largest in the Premier League, behind Manchester United's Old Trafford.
