A 19-year-old man has been held on suspicion of murder after a woman was killed and five others injured in a knife attack at Russell Square in central London on Thursday.
The suspect was arrested after police stunned him with a Taser, launched the attack at 10.30 p.m. local time on Wednesday in Russell Square near the Imperial Hotel.
He is now being held on suspicion of murder in a south London Police Station after receiving treatment at hospital, reports the Guardian.
Assistant commissioner Mark Rowley, who is Britain's most senior counter-terror officer, said preliminary reports suggested mental health was a factor but terrorism remained a line of enquiry.
Two women and three men, who suffered various injuries, received treatment in a hospital. Three were today discharged after the treatment.
Rowley addressed the media just after 3.30 a.m. London time outside Scotland Yard headquarters and said extra police patrols would be on London's streets following the knife attack.
London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, called for the public to remain calm and vigilant adding, the police were doing an incredibly difficult job.
