Manchester United have reportedly failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since the 1989-90 season after their miserable Premier League season came to an end with a 1-1 draw at Southampton on Sunday.

United reportedly had a small chance of a sneak into the Europa League if Tottenham Hotspurs lost Aston Villa, Sport24 reported.

However, with Tottenham defeating Aston 3-0, and the club's 1-1 draw at Southampton deprived United of the slight chances for making it to the Champions League as they finished in the seventh place in the Premier League table, the report added.
