Manchester United is reportedly gearing up for a sensational swoop on Paris-Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani as they prepare for life without their star man Wayne Rooney.
The England hitman is out of contract in June next year and is thought to be waiting to see how the season develops before making any decisions on his future.
According to the Mirror, United manager David Moyes has sanctioned a move for the unsettled Uruguayan with fears growing at Old Trafford that Rooney may decide to jump ship after the World Cup finals in the summer.
The report mentioned that the PSG striker is disillusioned by the state of football in France just six months after his 53 million-pound move from Napoli and believes that French football is lacking in passion, intensity and atmosphere.
Cavani's advisors believe that Old Trafford would be the ideal destination if PSG allow him to move on and Moyes also hinted that a major signing is on the cards
The report further said that any deal for Cavani, who has scored 18 goals for PSG this season in just 26 games, would be likely to cost United at least 55 million pounds.
