Manchester United are reportedly willing to spend up to 100 million pounds to bring Real Madrid midfielder Angel Di Maria.
United football team manager Louis van Gaal is reportedly said to have informed chief executive Ed Woodward to do all he can in his power to bring the Argentina international to the club after his side lost 2-1 to Swansea City on Saturday in the Premier League season opener.
The Dutchman is thought to be desperate to strengthen his squad with some world-class players before the closure of the summer transfer window at the end of August and has made Di Maria his number one target, The Mirror reported.
It was revealed in a British newspaper that if Di Maria agrees to join United, he would be paid in the region of 2,00,000 pounds-a-week.
Over the course of a five-year contract, coupled with a 50 million pounds transfer fee, it would take the club's investment in the player to 100 million pounds.
Van Gaal is also said to want to sign a central defender and a holding midfield player to try to revive United's ailing fortunes, the report added.
