Congress leader Manish Tewari today described the new disclosures reportedly coming from the former Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Vinod Rai as yet another sensationalism, and wondered why those facts were never brought to light into public domain earlier.

Speaking to ANI on the former CAG's disclosure that he was under pressure, reportedly by the former UPA government to drop names from the CAG reports, Tewari asked, "Sensationalism has been a staple of the former CAG, therefore, after putting sensational numbers out in the public space, which completely vitiated the public discourse between 2010-2014, now you have this latest bout of sensationalism. Was it not incumbent upon the former CAG to put those facts into public domain to bring into notice of the country, to bring it to the notice to the public accounts committee?."

"If he was being pressurised by anybody to include or delete any names , was this nugget of sensationalism being deliberately saved for what is the favourite post-retirement plan of certain public servants to write a book, after they have demitted office and enjoyed all the fruits and loaves of service," he added.

The former Auditor General Vinod Rai has reportedly dropped a bombshell by claiming that senior functionaries from the UPA government had applied pressure on him to drop certain names from the auditor's reports on Coalgate and Commonwealth Games scams.

According to reports, Vinod Rai's book which would be out on September 15, will provide details of how former Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh had succumbed to pressure to keep his coalition government floating.
