Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Sunday condemned the serial blasts in Patna and called upon Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to speedily investigate and punish the perpetrators.
Dr. Singh spoke to Nitish Kumar on telephone and urged the people to maintain calm.
"The Prime Minister condemns the blasts which occurred at several places in Patna. He appeals to the people to maintain peace and calm," the Prime Minister Office's said on twitter.
According to reports, one people killed and six others have been injured in five low intensity blasts in Patna this morning, hours before BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's address to a rally in the Bihar capital.
The first explosion took place at a platform in Patna railway station and the other near a movie theatre.
The Centre has rushed a team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to Patna.
