Ferrari team boss Marco Mattiacci has been replaced by Maurizio Arrivabene as the new team boss after assuming the role for a brief period of seven months.

According to a statement by Ferrari, throughout his time with Philip Morris, Arrivabene has been closely involved in the partnership with Ferrari, both in Maranello and on the world's racing circuits, the BBC reported. He has also represented all Formula 1 sponsors on the F1 commission since 2010, the statement added.

Ferrari ended 2014 season on a disappointing fourth in the constructors' championship table. Four times World Champion Sebastian Vettel has replaced Fernando Alonso as the new driver for the team.

Following Sunday's title-decider contest in Abu Dhabi, Mattiacci admitted that 2014 had been a difficult season and the work was in progress to produce a competitive car for the next season.

However, Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne has stated that the road ahead would neither be easy nor short as he has appointed the new chief based on his strong personal example, professionalism, and the integrity of his decisions.
