Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Monday lambasted the BJP-led NDA Government for not initiating any strict action against Minister of State for External Affairs General (Retd.) V.K. Singh over his dog analogy and said that it reflected the anti-Dalit mindset of the ruling dispensation.
Mayawati reiterated that General (Retd.) Singh should be sacked from the Union Cabinet with immediate effect.
"We strongly condemn the foul language used by V.K Singh for the dalit family in Haryana. Before the start of the session, considering the seriousness of the case, we had already asked for his resignation and also for an immediate action to be taken against him," Mayawati told reporters outside the Parliament here.
"I don't think the government is going to take any action against Singh. It shows the anti-Dalit mindset of the government," she added
The BSP supremo also alleged that the Congress and BJP were indulging in cheap politics on the atrocities committed on the Dalits.
"I don't even trust the intention of both the BJP and the Congress when they say that they would strive for justice for the dalits," she said.
The Delhi Police had earlier filed an Action Taken Report (ATR) in the Delhi Court and stated that no case was made out against the former army chief.
The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) had earlier summoned top cops in Ghaziabad, seeking a response on what action had been initiated against General (Retd.) Singh's 'dog' remark under the SC-ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
The NCSC had issued summons to Haryana's Director General of Police (DGP) and Ghaziabad's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), asking them to appear on November 2.
General (Retd.) Singh, who is the Bharatiya Janata Party's MP from Ghaziabad, had while attempting to delink the Centre over the killing of two Dalit kids in Ballabhgarh said the government is blamed even if a stone is pelted at a dog.
