New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum has said that the need for out-and-out pace could force young seam bowler Adam Milne into the team's bowling battery for their second one-dayer against the West Indies in Napier.

Milne sat out for New Zealand's two-wicket defeat in the series' opening ODI in Auckland, but will come right into the selection mix following the hosts' dependence on strike bowlers Mitchell McClenaghan and Kyle Mills at Eden Park.

According to Stuff.co.nz, McCullum admitted that there were moments during the series opener that he thought about how valuable Milne could have been, if he was in the playing XI, adding that he needs to balance between 'extra batter' versus someone who can try and run through a team.

Milne has only taken one wicket in five one-day internationals, and struggled during the Black Caps three-match series against Sri Lanka in November, although the 21-year-old possesses a fear factor with the ball that all-rounders James Neesham and Corey Anderson do not

However, McCullum defended the duo, saying that both Neesham and Anderson have done a great job for New Zealand so far in their short time with the team, and have futures with them as well.
