McDermott urges Oz quicks to use 'classic' Windies' 'chin music inspiration' in Ashes

Australian fast bowling coach Craig McDermott has urged his team's fast bowlers to wind back the clock to the days of West Indian domination and ruthlessly bounce England's tailenders in the Ashes.

The blueprint for England's lower-order worked in impressive fashion, with England's bottom five batsmen scoring just 59 runs between them in two innings at the Gabba.

According to News.com.au, Australia's fast bowlers destructed England's tail so completely in Brisbane that Stuart Broad's 32 in the first innings was the only double-figure score from them, with McGrath revealing that it was a deliberate ploy to aggressively detonate the England lower-order.

Stating that they wanted to turn up the heat on the tail-end, the 291-Test wicket-taker said that it was no different from what the West Indies did to Australia for 15 years, adding that it is written in the rules that players are allowed to bowl two bouncers per over.

The report mentioned that McDermott has first-hand experience of being a tailender and facing a bumper war after he faced a barrage of short-pitched balls on the 1991 Caribbean tour, although Glenn McGrath tuned the tables on a brutal West Indies side during Australia's historic 1995 series win in the Caribbean.
