An 86-year-old golfer has finally quenched his thirst of hitting his first hole-in-one after more than 50 years of concerted efforts.
Peter Phillips, who was playing an away day in Llanishen Golf Club in Cardiff, carded an ace on the par-three 16th hole from the tee.
An ecstatic Phillips said that it was a marvellous feeling but a long time coming at his age, the Mirror reported.
The veteran golfer said that they could see it was going up to the hole after it landed just short of the green but admitted that they did not see it go in.
The stalwart added that he found the ball in the hole after his playing partners suggested the possibility of bagging a hole-in-one as they saw only two of the three balls when they walked up to the tee box.
