Mindy Kaling, who welcomed a daughter named Katherine Swati Kaling on December 15, has paid tribute to her late mother by naming her first child after her.
This is not the first time the 38-year-old honoured her mother Dr. Swati Chokalingam, who died of pancreatic cancer in January 2012.
Kaling's hit show 'The Mindy Project' was inspired in part by her mother's years as an OBG/YN.
The comedian's pregnancy news first broke in July, but it wasn't confirmed until friend Oprah Winfrey spilled the beans.
Kaling announced her pregnancy back in August this year, and stated in October that she was "having a great time" being pregnant.
On the work front, she will be next seen in 'A Wrinkle in Time' alongside Winfrey and 'Oceans 8' alongside Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Sandra Bullock.
