Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir, who was banned for five years by International Cricket Committee (ICC) for his involvement in spot betting, is hopeful of making a comeback to international cricket.

Amir, who was banned for his role in the spot fixing scandal against England, said that his immediate focus was to prepare for the first class season and to leave the decisions of any recall to international cricket on the selectors.

Amir has recently signed for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) for the upcoming domestic first-class season with a view to making a comeback to the senior team.

Jubilant after signing for SSGC, Amir said that he was simply delighted at being given the chance to play at this level and he considers himself fortunate to have been considered for this role. He insisted that his immediate goal was to perform to the best of his abilities and help his team, Pak Passion has reported.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer and head coach of SGCC, Atiq-ul-Zaman said that it was indeed a pleasure to have someone so talented like Mohammad Amir as part of the SSGC squad, adding that Amir had shown in his recent performances that he still had the spark in him which made him the most talked about talent a few years ago, and they were hoping that he would be able to reignite his form during his stay.
