Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly rubbished Liverpool striker Luis Suarez's right to be crowned Player Of The Year and instead branded Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko as a more worthy 'king' instead.
Mourinho, who has already branded Suarez as 'king of the divers', revealed that in his view the Uruguayan international is not special enough to win the award, which his fellow professionals have already given him.
According to the Daily Express, Mourinho said that the reason why Dzeko would always be ahead of Suarez in his eyes is that the profile of the player that wins the player of the year is not the profile of the player that used to win in English football 10, eight, six years ago.
The Portuguese added that if he had got anything to do with choosing the player of the year then that player would always be a representative from the league champions, adding that if City are the ones who win the title then he would choose Dzeko.
Mourinho said that Dzeko is the ideal choice for the prize because being the third striker in the beginning of the season he had even been behind his manager's first choices, but when the team needed him in crucial moments through injuries or loss of form he made the difference.
The Chelsea boss further added that Dzeko, who has scored 16 goals this season, is not just a goalscorer, but he assists, plays, behaves, is fair, does not dive, does not try to put opponents on the stands with accumulation of cards, and that is why Mourinho said he would choose the Bosnian.
