Manchester United manager David Moyes is planning a 50 million pound January transfer blowout to save the club's season after they got off to their worst start in the Premier League in 25 years.
According to the Mirror, the Glazers owners recognise the Premier League has become more competitive this season, with their immediate rivals having made significant investment in their squads, and are willing to hand Moyes the cash he needs.
That could be as early as January, when the transfer window re-opens, if the right players become available, as Moyes looks to bolster his squad with the quality he feels he is currently lacking, the report said.
Despite losing three of his first six Premier League games in charge, Moyes has the full backing of the United board, who recognised the last transfer window was always going to be a difficult one, following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson and chief executive David Gill, the report added.
Moyes has publicly admitted he wanted two or three signings to go 'straight into the team' and then said teams need at least five world-class players to win the Champions League, conceding he did not have that in his current squad, the report further said.
