MTV reportedly filmed Nicki Minaj's performance during Video Music Awards very carefully by focusing on her upper body with the help of strategic camera angles.

According to a source, the 31-year-old rapper tried hard to get the "TV-MA" rating through her "twerk-filled" performance to her song 'Anaconda', whose video features her giving a lap dance in thongs to Drake, New York Post reported.

Melissa Henson, director of the Parents Television Council, stated that the 'Bang Bang' singer's routine "wasn't racy as they were anticipating" since her costume was less revealing and the most offensive content was edited out.

Henson added that she didn't know if Minaj had anything to do with the censorship or MTV or network standards and practices, but she was relieved to see that it wasn't as bad as it might have been.

However, an MTV spokesperson has denied conversation between Minaj and the network about racy content for her performance.
