British tennis star Andy Murray is on course to become the nation's richest sports star if he wins his final match against world No.1 Novak Djokovic on Sunday to give Britain its first Wimbledon title since 1936.
According to the Mirror, if Murray beats the Serbian star, he will take home 1.6 million pounds in winnings, but that was nothing compared to the bumper sponsorship deals he will rake in following the victory, taking his fortune to more than 60 million pounds.
More than 20 million Brits are expected to tune in to watch the tennis ace take on the World No. 1 Djokovic, with the Scot expressing in a press conference that winning Wimbledon was the pinnacle of the sport, the report said.
The report added that Murray has already won nearly 18.5 million pounds in prize money and experts have predicted that he could end up with more than 100 million pounds.
Murray's Wimbledon haul would put him alongside UK top earner, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, the report also said.
