The Mysore district administration said Thursday that it had no information about a 'saree dress code' circular issued by the regional joint commissioner of collegiate education.
Mysore Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, told ANI, "I don't know the facts of the case. From the district administration, no such direction or anything has been given. Probably, it is the educational department's circular and they are best equipped to answer that question."
The joint commissioner in his circular on Tuesday asked the regional educational officer to make sure that women lecturers shun suits and only wear sarees in the college.
The circular was withdrawn on Wednesday evening.
