The Government of Nagland has dismissed media reports that it has submitted a report to the Union Home Ministry, which state that there was no rape in connection with the last week's incident in Dimapur.

State Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar clarified that the State Government's report has not ruled out rape and added that the case is still under investigation.

Urging the media to exercise restraint and avoid speculative reporting, Kumar said that every effort must be made to avoid confusion between communities.

The police, meanwhile, have confirmed the arrest of some more persons in connection with the incident, taking the number of the detained persons to 48.

SMS and Mobile Internet services will remain blocked for another 24 hours throughout Nagaland.

Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang has also met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and apprised him about the situation in the state in the aftermath of the lynching of the rape accused.
