The 44th Nagi Day was celebrated at Sriganganagar Military Station and Nagi (a small village located in Sri Karanpur close to International Boundary) in memory of gallant soldiers of the Indian Army who laid down their lives for the Nation during the famous Battle of Nagi on 27-28 December, 1971.

The Battle was fought ten days after announcement of the ceasefire of Indo-Pak war wherein brave action by Indian soldiers at Nagi thwarted the nefarious designs of Pakistan Army to capture Indian territory in Village Nagi of Karanpur Tehsil. In the ensuring battle, a total of 21 Indian Soldiers including three officers made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
To celebrate the occasion, a number of events were held at Sriganganagar Military Station, Karanpur and Nagi Memorial on 27-28 December 15 that included a presentation on Battle of Nagi, wreath laying ceremony at Shaurya and a Light and Sound Show which depicted the heroism shown by the martyrs of 4 PARA (SF) and 9 PARA Fd Regt of Indian Army.

On 28 December 15, a wreath laying ceremony was held at the war memorial at Nagi followed by interaction with civilians of Nagi Village.

The veterans who gallantry fought the battle were present on the occasion and shared their experiences of the battle with the audience. The events were witnessed by Major Gen Bipin Bakshi, General Officer Commanding Amogh Division, Veterans and serving Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers, Jawans and prominent civil officials of Sriganganagar, Sri Karanpur and Nagi.
