BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today expressed his displeasure over the deteriorating law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh by claiming that the state government had been kidnapped by criminals.
Naqvi said, "The UP government has been kidnapped by criminals. It's a government of crime and oppression. All these incidents that are happening one after the other, are a cause of concern."
Earlier today, National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Mamta Sharma said on Tuesday that the Meerut gang rape incident should be taken seriously by the Uttar Pradesh Government.
Sharma told ANI, "Honestly, people are tired listening to the talks of Uttar Pradesh. But I am concerned that the government is not ready to do anything for women in Uttar Pradesh. Just making strategies will not help. The government should take care of women safety separately."
She also demanded a CBI inquiry into the case.
A 20-year-old teacher of Hindi and English in the Sarawa village madrasa in Kharkhauda claimed that she was gang-raped and forced to convert to another religion and to change her name.
The woman reportedly managed to escape from the kidnappers on August 2. Afterwards, she contacted her family who rescued her. A complaint was also filed later with the police.
