A Narayanganj court sent Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the sensational April 2014 seven-murder case to jail on Friday.
According to the Daily Star, Hossain, who was brought back from India late last night, was shifted from the Narayanganj Jail to the Dhaka Central Jail this afternoon.
The daily said the order to send Hossain to jail was given by Narayanganj Chief Judicial Magistrate Shahidul Islam soon after the former was produced before the court around 3 p.m. local time.
Police have shown Hossain as being arrested in 11 cases, including the seven-murder case, filed with Shiddhirganj and Fatullah police stations.
As soon as Hossain reached the court, people from all walks of life chanted slogans demanding capital punishment for him.
Nur is wanted in almost a dozen cases, including the one filed over the killing of seven people -- Narayanganj City Corporation ward Councillor Nazrul Islam, his driver and three associates, and senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar and his driver.
