With Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Suresh Lad coming under the scanner for slapping a bureaucrat, the Shiv Sena on Wednesday said this act does not suit his position while demanding that this matter be thoroughly investigated so that the truth comes to the fore.

Shiv Sena MLA Arvind Sawant said such behaviour, however, does not suit the position of an MLA.

"We have also seen that he beat the deputy collector. There are two things in this one is that it does not go with the designation of a MLA that he does something of this sort," said Sawant.

"Second is that sometimes it has been seen that these bureaucrats do not extend the needed help for work which is meant for the welfare of the people that time the MLAs or the politicians get helpless and in such cases the anger comes out. I am not saying that it is correct. But why did this happen, this should be interrogated," he added.

A video showing Karjat MLA Suresh Lad slapping and assaulting a senior bureaucrat has surfaced on the internet.

The NCP MLA, as seen in the video, slaps and threatens the deputy collector while the latter pleads him to stop.

According to reports, the incident took place last week at a meeting called by Deputy Collector Abhay Kalgudkar over a land acquisition related matter.

As per reports, the politician allegedly slapped Kalgudkar after a disagreement over compensation to farmers for land acquisition.

Meanwhile, as per reports, an official said that Kalgudkar has filed a complaint with Palghar District Collector over the NCP MLA's alleged misbehavior.
