NCP urges Centre to provide detailed report on demonetisation

After the Finance Secretary Shaktikanata Das stated that the remonetisation of new currency has almost completed, the National Congress Party (NCP) on Saturday urged the Centre to provide a detailed report on the entire process of demonetisation of high-value currency notes.

"Once all the process is being closed in the words of finance secretary, the people of the country are expecting an entire account of the exercise. All the accounts must be placed in the Parliament and all the detail must be presented to the people of this country," NCP leader Majeed Memon told ANI.

Memon said during the entire process of demonetisation nobody were able to know that when is this apathy of the people were going to be aid and added that it is glad to hear that the entire process has been completely.

On Friday, Das said that the exercise of remonetisation that began after scrapping of the old currency post demonetisation on November 8 is nearly complete as the there is no restrictions on withdrawals limits.

Later the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said that it will soon issue Rs 100 denomination bank notes which will be similar to the design of the ones in Mahatma Gandhi Series 2005.
