The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) celebrated its 10th Raising Day on Wednesday.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the work of NDRF during calamities and disasters.
He said the NDRF personnel have done commendable jobs in different disasters by rescuing people in distress like floods in Assam, Meghalaya and Jammu and Kashmir, the landslide in Malin gaon and at other places.
Singh preventing natural disasters would be possible if people make judicial use of available natural resources.
There is also a need for increasing co-operation in different agencies dealing with disaster management and relief assistance to the affected people, he added.
Singh presented Police Medals to NDRF personnel. A souvenir and a Postal cover marking the tenth Raising Day was also released.
