People's Democratic Party MLA Altaf Bukhari on Monday reiterated party president Mehbooba Mufti's stand over the Jammu and Kashmir's government formation, saying the agenda of the alliance with the BJP must be delivered to the people of the state.
"I think president sahiba (Mehbooba Mufti) made it very clear that it is not only the formation of Government, for the sake of forming the government but a government that delivers as per the agenda of alliance. So the agenda of alliance has been already discussed and agreed to upon last year. What the honourable president has said that the implementation will not take more than 24 hours. So that is what it is," he told ANI.
Commenting on the meeting called upon by Mehbooba, he said, "Today's meeting is a legislature members are meeting both of the council as well as the assembly to review the status and take it further on. It is obviously for discussing the formation of government. But it is not only this discussion."
"President is very clear. She said that she wants to go ahead with the alliance with the BJP but this was based on an agenda. She needs assurances and timelines on the agenda. That is all," he added.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra sent a letter to both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to clarity their respective stances on government formation in the state.
The chief minister's seat has been lying vacant for the last three weeks since the death of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7.
A core group of the BJP met this morning in Jammu to discuss the issue of government formation. The PDP meeting is scheduled to be held in Srinagar.
